Spirituality is not fear, and it is not a transaction. It is a discipline.
At the lotus feet of Batuk Bhairava and Maa Tara.
Being spiritual is not about performing puja and prayers mechanically — out of fear of God, in hopes of better outcomes, for protection, or to get through difficult times. Understand this: the moment you stand before the deities, you are an open book. They know everything about you, beyond even what you know about yourself. So if you follow deities worship, than talk to them as you talk to your mother or father. Talk about how you feel, what are weaknesses etc. Don’t try to trick deities, they know it already. We need to be open and transparent.
To me, being spiritual means having a ritual for my spirit. And a ritual is nothing but a discipline — a consistent practice, done the same way we brush our teeth or take a shower. We do those things to feel clean. To clean the spirit, the soul, there has to be a practice too.
I am not suggesting any particular path; that is up to each individual. It could be a specific practice, meditation, a focus on righteous karma, or simply expressing gratitude.
Whatever suits you — that is the path to choose. If you find nothing, start with ten minutes of silence in a quiet place.
Remember — it has to be the same thing, the same place, the same time. Travel will sometimes take the place away from you, but even then, maintain the practice. Consistency is your’s to control; Grace keeps its own schedule.
The first thing you will encounter when you set out to do something for your soul is resistance. The brain protests: Why? I don’t have time. How do I know I’m doing this right? And when difficult times come, we rush to blame. To overcome all of this, pick a path and build consistency until the practice becomes as automatic as brushing your teeth or taking a shower.
Hold the discipline for at least three months, and it will start to become ingrained.
Then the next phase kicks in: the cleansing. You may feel sudden anger. Events buried deep in memory will rise in front of you, resulting in emotional havoc. Your sleep may be disturbed by frightening dreams or may suddenly go deep. You may feel sad, find yourself crying, or simply feel down. None of this is a setback. It is the process by which your mind unlocks your deepest thoughts, fears, frustrations, and anger — bringing them to the surface so you can face them and shake them off. That is how the soul cleansing begins.
When this happens, acknowledge the feeling, and then let it go. Picture yourself sitting on a riverbank, placing each feeling on a leaf, and releasing the leaves into the water one by one, letting the river carry them away. Choose whatever method works for you. But without this deep cleansing, the spiritual journey cannot progress.
As you release the fear, emotions, anger and all that is buried deep inside our memories/spirit/soul , the mind grows clearer, calmer and steady, moving toward becoming unshakable. Unshakable does not mean nothing affects you. It means you regain your composure quickly.
Remember, there is no timeline – it varies by individual and how there journey in this life or past have evolved. So don’t do this with expectation like I feel good, this will get help from universe or my problems will go away: Do this without expectation, and more importantly detachment. It’s our soul contract.
It is my firm belief that once you step onto the path, things will unravel on their own — and the path itself will guide your next steps.
This is a path you must evaluate for yourself — if for NOTHING else, then FOR YOUR SPIRIT.
